Donuts are usually prepared with eggs, flour and yeast as base ingredients but this time I wanted to make eggless donuts just to make it possible for everyone to make.

I have already posted an eggless donut recipe earlier but that one is baked version so thought to post a fried version on the same as well for long time but never happened for some reason.

  • 1/4 cup, 1/4 Sugar

  • 1/4 teaspoon, 1/4 Cinnamon powder

Directions to make Eggless donut

  • In a bowl/ cup add warm milk, not hot just warm, to it add sugar and yeast. Mix well and keep it aside for 15 minutes until frothy.
  • In a bowl add all purpose flour, a pinch if salt and melted butter. Mix well and add milk yeast frothy mixture. Combine everything together and knead it into a soft dough.

  • After 2 hour the dough should have doubled in size. Now flatten the dough with rolling pin with 1/3 thickness. Cut the dough into round shape with the help of a round cutter/ a bowl used at home. Then place a cap or small cutter. Now place the donuts one by one and place it on a non stick baking tray/ a baking tray with parchment/ wax paper. The remaining I knead into a ball again, rolled it out and cut into roundels that way no dough is water, also used the donuts holes. Now allow it to rest for 20 minutes covered with cloth in a warm place.
  • After an hour your donut would have risen. Heat oil in a frying pan and slide donuts one be one and fry them in medium flame in order to achieve even coloring and cooked inside. When the donut puffs flip it gently and when both sides are brown remove the doughnut from oil using slotted spoon.
  • Now slide the donut balls too in preheated oil and fry till golden brown. Remove from oil when done. Transfer it to a plate with paper towel.
  • In a bowl add sugar and cinnamon powder. Mix well now coat the donut well in sugar and keep it aside. Relish it with a cup of coffee or just like thatEggless doughnut recipe, Basic eggless donuts (8)

Sandhya Riyaz

Hi, Thank you for taking a moment to know about me. I am Sandhya born to telugu parents in Pondicherry and was brought up in Sharjah. My native is Thraksha Rama ( Andhra Pradesh) but I have visited only once during childhood, but I remember my parents telling me the place has beautiful temples. My cooking inspiration is partly from my mom as I have never seen her taking off from cooking any day. She always makes delicious and tasty foods specially new experiments and trust me for my critics which I think inspired me in a way.

FAQs

Is egg important in doughnut? ›

Eggs are also added to the dough to provide flavour, texture, and structure. The proteins in the egg coagulate when heated, which helps to set the structure of the doughnut and create a fluffy, tender texture. Finally, the leavening agent (yeast or baking powder) is added to the dough to help it rise.

How to make donuts without a form? ›

Take a square piece of foil and place it over one of your fingers. It needs to be large enough to cover the bottom of each cup in the muffin tin. A 5″×5″ square seemed to work best for me. Fold the foil around your finger, gently folding the sides up, to create a mold.

Why are my homemade donuts so dense? ›

Yeast. Yeast is a tiny yet magical organism that helps doughs of all kinds rise. Without yeast, your doughnuts might resemble dense disks rather than fluffy rings. There are a variety of types of yeasts available for purchase, and some bakers even capture native yeasts to create their own unique doughnut dough.

What is the best oil for homemade donuts? ›

What kind of oil is best for cooking donuts? The best oil is the one with the least flavour. Vegetable oil and canola oil are both very good in this respect. The most important thing is to use the same oil for the same kinds of foods, since oil readily absorbs flavours and aromas.

What can I use instead of all purpose flour in doughnuts? ›

Use Bread Flour.

While all purpose works well for this recipe, I much prefer bread flour because of the extra gluten. More gluten means more of a chew and I love a soft and chewy donut! Both can be substituted one for another in this recipe. If you happen to have bread flour, I'd recommend using that for best results.

Do Krispy Kreme donuts have eggs? ›

Can I use lemon juice instead of yeast? ›

By adding an acid to baking soda (lemon juice or cream of tartar) a chemical reaction occurs that produces carbon dioxide and fills your bread with air. You can substitute yeast with equal parts of lemon juice and baking soda.

Can I use baking powder instead of yeast for donuts? ›

You can use baking soda or baking powder to make cake donuts, sometimes known as fry cakes. That's what my local Wegmans calls them, at any rate. They tend to be a bit denser than yeast raised donuts, but equally delicious.

Which flour is best for donuts? ›

Use real cake flour – not DIY cake flour!

DIY substitutions don't really cut it, and AP flour will not create doughnuts with that same soft texture. Also, bleached cake flour will work best. Unbleached (like King Arthur Baking) won't absorb as much moisture, and you may end up with doughnuts that crumble while frying.

Can I bake my doughnut instead of frying it? ›

Perfect your technique

Spoon the batter into the lightly greased doughnut pans, filling the wells to about 1/4" shy of the rim. Bake the doughnuts for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove them from the oven, and wait 5 to 7 minutes before turning them out of the pans onto a rack.

What trick keeps donuts fresh? ›

Place your donuts in storage bags or airtight containers.

Definitely put them in airtight bags or containers though so they stay fresh! The only time this isn't a good idea is when your donuts are cream-filled. In that case, you'll want to store them in the fridge so they don't spoil.
